kyriarchy
Kyriarchy is a term used in feminist theology to mean the domination of a lord or master (the word kyrie means 'lord' in Greek, as in the "Lord have mercy," or kyrie eleison, of Christian liturgy.) Kyriarchy is an amplification, in a sense, of the term "patriarchy," more commonly used in feminist discourse. Where patriarchy concerns gender, kyriarchy encompasses multiple forms of domination or oppression: race, class, culture, religion.
Feminist scholars credit theologian Elizabeth Schussler Fiorenza with bringing the word into current use.
